Foreign direct investment (FDI) have become an increasingly substantial phenomenon as regards internationalization in both scales, i.e. enterprises an entire economies. Given ceteris paribus, the income as the primary stimulus of economic activity, the scientific objective of the article is to verify whether – over the period of the last downturn – the change in profi tability has occurred as well as the change in the income structure received from both FDI outfl ow and infl ow in specially selected the EU countries, which would indicate a permanent transformation of the income from FDI. Empirical studies covered selected – in the terms of FDI percentage share in GDP – five economies over 2007–2011, and descriptive statistical methods have been applied to achieve the goal.
