The article focuses its attention on the Internet resources content written by the Ukrainian art critics, journalists, historians and others about the film Wojciech Smarzowski’s Volyn. The key theses of the general critique of the movie Volyn are examined from the position of Ukrainian authors, and some aspects of the historical unlikelihood of the film’s events are considered; attention is paid to the presence in the film of the manifestations of the colonial consciousness of the movie creators; also the image of Ukrainians in the film, designed by the directors, is being considered. The mythological-archetypal series of images of the film are analyzed: a fire, a water, a bridge, an executioner, a victim, a land etc. There is made an attempt to draw the attention to the presence of the political component in the film and to the role of historical memory.
