The aim of this paper is to discuss the extent to which the organic metaphor, commonly used in management publications, allows you to better understand the functioning of the organization. The article attempts to develop some aspects of this approach based on literature studies. Some human characteristics and behaviors are compared with the behavior of organizations in order to assess the extent to which they are similar and thus whether such an analogy is justified.

Celem artykułu jest przedyskutowanie problemu, w jakim stopniu często stosowana w literaturze z zakresu zarządzania metafora organizmowa ułatwia zrozumienie zasad funkcjonowania organizacji. W treści artykułu zostanie podjęta próba rozwinięcia niektórych aspektów takiego ujęcia na podstawie badań literaturowych. Zostaną porównane niektóre cechy i zachowania człowieka z zachowaniem charakteryzującym organizacje, w celu oceny, w jakim zakresie występuje podobieństwo, a więc czy analogia taka jest uzasadniona.

The first part of the article points out the high expectations scientists face, concluding that the image is idealized, since not all of the formulated demands are critical, while some of them may even contradict each other. Subsequently, common mistakes in scientific research are examined, and rules are given, based on literature on the subject, serving to ensure the correctness of conducted research, along with efforts to formulate those rules in dedicated codices. Attention is paid to conscious abuses in science as well as conflicts of interest forming the base thereof, and to the phenomenon called pseudoscience. Finally the role of keeping to a high academic standard is pointed out, along with the dangers caused by the lately observed lowering of requirements for students, as well as the general trivialization of societal intellectual life.

W pierwszej części artykułu wskazano, jak wysokie wymagania stawia się pracownikom naukowym, stwierdzając, że obraz ten jest wyidealizowany, gdyż nie wszystkie z formułowanych oczekiwań są naprawdę ważne, a niekiedy pozostają one ze sobą w sprzeczności. Następnie omówiono błędy, jakie występują w pracy naukowej i podano formułowane w literaturze reguły służące zapewnieniu poprawności realizowanych badań oraz próby ujęcia ich w specjalnych kodeksach. Zwrócono również uwagę na świadome nadużycia w nauce oraz konflikty interesów leżące u ich podłoża, a także na zjawisko określane jako pseudonauka. Na zakończenie wskazano na rolę utrzymania wysokiego poziomu kształcenia akademickiego i niebezpieczeństwa, jakie niesie ze sobą obserwowane ostatnio obniżanie wymagań stawianych studentom, jak również ogólna trywializacja życia intelektualnego społeczeństwa.
