LOGISTIC INNOVATIONS IN TRANSPORT

Introduction: The article discusses the issue of logistic innovations in transport. The essentials of logistic innovations in transport together with some examples of specific innovations are presented. The role of the client's needs in transport innovations is indicated. The most vital postulates affecting the innovativeness of shipping companies and derived from the author's experience as well as scholarly publications, are time, safety, reliability as well as comprehensiveness of service offer. Following the analysis of the issue, and on the grounds of Kaizen's and Lean's method, the concept of continuous innovations is suggested as very useful for the development of transport. The potential of clusters as the source of logistic innovations in transport is emphasised. Methods: The discussion of the issue was preceded by the author's analysis of written sources on innovativeness, the evaluation of ratings of innovativeness as well as the analysis of rewarded innovative solutions in transport subsequent to the businesses participation in the programme of innovative solutions in transport. The role of innovation practical business operations is argued following the analysis of some strategic documents such as: 2011 White Paper and the Strategy for the Development of Transport by 2020 adopted by the Polish government in 2013. Aim: The aim of the article is to present the role and significance of the issue of logistic innovations in transport and to cite instances of practical solutions implemented by shipping companies, the solutions which resulted in measurable effects. Following the author's observation of the instances of innovative solutions as well as his analysis of the ratings of innovativeness, the article aims to present the conclusions as for the specific kinds of activities which are indispensable to foster innovativeness in transport. Conclusions: The conclusions derived from the author's analyses and observations show that logistic innovations in the Polish transport are of imitative character. It is essential to introduce new methods and modern business culture which are propitious to innovations. Transportation clusters may become the stimulus for innovativeness in TSL sector. The author, subsequently to his observation of instances of innovative solutions as well as his analysis of ratings of innovativeness, presents conclusions with reference to specific actions which should be taken in order to improve innovativeness in transport.

Wstęp: Artykuł dotyczy problematyki innowacji logistycznych w transporcie. Przedstawiono w nim podstawy zagadnienia innowacji logistycznych w transporcie wraz z przykładami konkretnych innowacji. Wskazano w nim na rolę potrzeb klienta w innowacjach transportowych. Do najistotniejszych postulatów mających wpływ na innowacyjność przedsiębiorstw transportowych na podstawie doświadczeń i publikacji naukowych zaliczono czas transportu, bezpieczeństwo, niezawodność usług, kompleksowość oferty usługowej. W oparciu o analizę problematyki zaproponowano jako przydatną dla rozwoju transportu koncepcję ciągłych innowacji w oparciu o metodę Kazein i Lean. Management. Wskazano na potencjał klastrów, jako źródła innowacyjności logistycznej w transporcie. Metody: Dla wyjaśnienia problematyki zastosowano analizę literaturową zagadnienia innowacyjności, ocenę rankingów innowacyjności oraz analizę przykładów nagrodzonych rozwiązań innowacyjnych w transporcie w oparciu o metodę obserwacji własnej i ocenę wynikająca z uczestnictwa w wyborze rozwiązań innowacyjnych w transporcie. Rolę innowacji w praktyce działalności gospodarczej uzasadniono także w oparciu o analizę dokumentów o charakterze strategicznym np. Białej Księgi z 2011 r. oraz Strategii Rozwoju Transportu do 2020 r. przyjętej przez Rząd Polski w 2013 r. Cel: Celem artykułu było przedstawienie roli i znaczenia problematyki innowacji logistycznych w transporcie oraz wskazanie praktycznych przykładów logistycznych rozwiązań innowacyjnych w transporcie skutkujących wymiernymi efektami dla przedsiębiorstw je wdrażających. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych obserwacji przykładów rozwiązań innowacyjnych i analiz rankingów innowacyjności przedstawianie wniosków w zakresie konkretnych rodzajów działań niezbędnych do poprawy innowacyjności w transporcie. Wnioski: Wynikające z analiz i obserwacji wnioski wskazują, iż innowacje logistyczne w polskim transporcie mają raczej charakter odtwórczy. Niezbędne jest wprowadzanie nowych metod i kultury organizacyjnej sprzyjającej innowacjom. Klastry transportowe mogą stanowić instrument pobudzający rozwój innowacji w sektorze TSL. Autor na podstawie przeprowadzonych obserwacji przykładów rozwiązań innowacyjnych i analiz rankingów innowacyjności przedstawiania wnioski w zakresie konkretnych rodzajów działań niezbędnych do poprawy innowacyjności w transporcie.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to elucidate the role of regulation as a tool to create values for both business entities and individual clients due to competition development in the Polish market of rail transport services. Methodology: This study was of a conceptual character. It was based on the analysis of the notion of the rail transport services regulation and the main regulation problems that have appeared in the rail transport regulation practice so far. The analysis of literary sources as well as practice enabled the author to highlight the circumstances when the regulation becomes a necessity and to discuss the conditions for its introduction. Findings: Reviewing the regulation on Polish railway transportation market, the author presents a fundamental conclusion - despite all the changes on the market, regulation does not produce assumed results perceived as an increase of transportation role in economy. According to author, major improvement of institutional and marketing efficiency of regulation entity is essential, as it is relevant for producing favorable results concerning the way the market operates, behavior of the market players as well as building customer value. Originality: Market regulation is a new phenomenon in Polish rail transport. The study discussed the notion of regulatory service. A value-for-clients model was also offered, i.e. the clients of regulatory activities in the course of the competition development in the rail transport services.

Jest to swoista integracja kanałów sprzedaży i kanałów komunikacji. Przedsiębiorstwo umożliwia klientowi kontakt oraz zakup i zwrot towaru w formie najbardziej dogodnej klientowi. W artykule omówiono zagadnienie omnikanałowości w kontekście wpływu na rozwiązania logistyczne. Celem rozważań jest przedstawienie strategii omnikanałowej i wyzwań, które niesie ona dla logistyki. Artykuł ma charakter teoretyczno-poznawczy z elementami praktycznymi.

The most popular sales channel using modern technology is that for sale in online stores. The development of new sales channels has driven attention for omnichannel sales. This is the kind of integration of sales channels and channels of communication. The company enables the client contacting and purchasing as well as returning goods in the most convenient to the customer form. The article discusses the issue of omnichannel in the context of its impact on logistics solutions. The aim of the discussion is to present the omnichannel strategy and the challenges it poses for logistics. The article is of the theoretical and cognitive nature with practical elements.

Самым популярным каналом продажи с использованием современных технологий является интер- нет-продажа. Развитие новых каналов продажи обратило внимание на омниканальную продажу. Это своеобразная интеграция каналов продажи и каналов коммуникации. Предприятие предоставляет клиенту возможность контакта и продажи, а также возвращения товара в наиболее удобной для клиента форме. В статье обсудили вопрос омниканальности в контексте влияния ее на логистические решения. Цель рассуждений – представить омниканальную стратегию и вызовы, которые она несет для логистики. Статья имеет теоретико-познавательный характер с практическими элементами.

Dlatego też w artykule omówiono zagadnienie handlu elektronicznego z perspektywy jego wpływu na logistykę. Celem rozważań jest przedstawienie, na podstawie analizy literatury i wyników badań wtórnych, wyzwań stojących przez logistyką w kontekście dynamicznego rozwoju handlu elektronicznego w Polsce. Problematykę zobrazowano przykładami praktycznych rozwiązań logistycznych dla branży e-commerce. Artykuł ma charakter teoretyczny, poglądowo-koncepcyjny z elementami studium przypadku o charakterze praktycznym.

The dynamic development of web and contemporary ICT technologies have stimulated e-commerce expansion in Poland. The most popular e-commerce is online shopping. Logistics service of e-commerce requires infrastructure and solutions tailored to specific branch requirements. Therefore the author in his article describes the e-commerce issues on the basis of literature analysis and results of the secondary research concerning challenges related to logistics in the context of dynamics-commerce expansion. The article is of the theoretical, illustrative and conceptual nature with elements of the case study of the practical nature.

Наиболее популярная форма э-коммерции – торговля в интернет-магазинах. Логистическое обслуживание отрасли э-коммерции требует логистической инфраструктуры и решений,приспособленных к требованиям этой отрасли торговли. И потому в статье обсудили вопрос электронной торговли из перспективы ее влияния на логистику. Цель рассужде- ний – представить, на основе анализа литературы и результатов вторичных исследований, вызовы, стоящие перед логистикой в контексте динамичного развития э-коммерции в Польше. Проблематику проиллюстрировали примерами практических логистических решений для отрасли э-коммерции. Статьяимеет теоретический, наглядно-концептуальный характер с элементами анализа конкретного случая практического характера.

W artykule na kanwie uwarunkowań otoczenia, oczekiwań klientów i podejmowanych wobec łańcuchów dostaw działań o charakterze wewnętrznym autor przedstawia kierunki rozwoju łańcuchów dostaw. Tematyka usprawnienia funkcjonowania łańcuchów dostaw została osadzona w kontekście koncepcji H. Lee i J. Gattorny. Rozważania zakończono przedstawieniem problematyki łańcucha dostaw w praktyce biznesowej handlu detalicznego.

Due to trade development, dynamic changes in customers preferences and network economy, thematic of supply chain is being emphasized. Constantly actions are undertaken to increase the efficiency of the supply chains. On basis of environment determinants, customers expectations as well as actions of internal nature, the author presented supply chain development directions. Issue concerning the improvement of supply chains functioning was embedded in H. Lee and J. Gattorna context. Considerations are complemented by presentation of supply chain problematic aspects in regard to business practice of retail trade.

Artykuł dotyczy problematyki rozumienia usługi transportowej w kategoriach systemowych. Praktycznym wyrazem systemowego podejścia do transportu są przewozy intermodalne. Powstanie systemu transportu intermodalnego spowodowało potrzebę kompleksowego traktowania procesów transportowych. Operatorzy transportu intermodalnego zarządzają całym procesem organizacji świadczenia usługi. Pojawia się zatem pytanie, czy usługę oferowaną przez operatora transportu intermodalnego można traktować jako złożoną usługę systemową. Systemowość współczesnych produktów i usług polega na tym, że o ich wartości postrzeganej dla klientów decyduje fakt, iż funkcjonują one w określonym, rozszerzonym systemie produktów i/lub usług oraz sieci ich użytkowników. Prezentowany język sieci związany jest z rozwojem w naukach organizacji i zarządzania koncepcją sieci, która staje się inspirującą ideą ostatnich lat.

The paper discusses the interpretation issue of the transportation service concept in terms of a system. Intermodal freight transport is a practical expression of the system approach to transport. Development of the intermodal transport system has brought about the need for the comprehensive grasp of transportation processes. Intermodal transport operators manage the whole transportation service organization process. Hence, a question arises whether the service offered by an intermodal transport operator may be interpreted as a complex system service. Systemness of contemporary products and services consists in that their value for clients is predefined by their place in the whole system of products and/or services as well as by the network of their users. The network language, occurring in this paper, is connected with the development of the notion of network, one of the inspiring ideas in organization and management science of the recent years.

The article presents the railway entity PKP LHS Sp. z o.o. and its role in the development of the New Silk Road. In consequence, the increase in traffic on the Silk Road with the participation of Polish companies translates into the economic development of the Lublin Province and the development of border crossings in that province. The importance of transport corridors and the participation of PKP LHS in the development of those corridors have been highlighted. Investment assumptions have been presented, the effects of which will be visible in a few years, strengthening the potential and economic capabilities of the province.

The authors in their article delineate the position of the Republic of Korea and the port of Busan on a logistic map of the world. They point out the port’s fundamental success factors together with past actions which allowed Busan to become a logistic centre of north-east Asia. In particular, the authors emphasize the role of the strategic location of the port in the transport corridors. Reflections on the role of the port of Busan are illustrated through statistics and rankings created by institutions of global importance, e.g. The World Bank and the OECD.

The authors of the article discussed the issue of risk in supply chains. They clarifid the essence of supply chain and the risk related to the functioning of the supply chain. Basic risks in supply chains were presented. The issue was set in the context of trade with the East. Taking up the issues was the result of personal experience in the conduct of business on the Eastern markets in the area of enforcement activities and the sale of services in the logistics services In conclusion, despite the adverse circumstances of political, economic and cultural nature of the risks, the authors recognized it is worth looking for alternatives of development on the Eastern markets.

Autorzy wyjaśnili istotę łańcucha dostaw, wskazali ryzyka związane z funkcjonowaniem łańcucha dostaw oraz przedstawili podstawowe rodzaje ryzyka w łańcuchach dostaw. Problematyka została osadzona w kontekście handlu ze Wschodem. Jej podjęcie było efektem osobistych doświadczeń w prowadzeniu działalności biznesowej na rynkach wschodnich w obszarze działań wykonawczych i sprzedaży usług, w tym usług logistycznych. W konkluzji, mimo niekorzystnych uwarunkowań natury politycznej, ekonomicznej i ryzyk natury kulturowej, autorzy uznali, że warto szukać alternatyw rozwojowych na rynkach wschodnich.
