Young people’s social competences are very important to the efficient functioning of the individual in social reality. The development of social competence is a huge challenge for education in the contemporary world in connection with the pervasive culture of consumerism and a reduction in the value of some social needs among young people. This article is an attempt to present the importance of social competence in contemporary school and educational challenges in consumption world, to develop social competence by the young generation.

McDonaldization is present in many areas of social life and its various attributes like efficiency,calculability, predictability, and control determine the rhythm of human activity in society. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the educational system in Poland from the perspective of the McDonaldization phenomenon, thereby drawing attention to the role of the consumer culture in the fieldof education and to show the progress of the globalization process and its side effects in this field.
