The main objective of this paper is to show the differences and similarities in the use of demonstrative forms in Polish and Spanish, which arise not only from differences paradigmatic (Spanish ternary system vs Polish binary system), but also pragmatic context. With the help of electronic corpora the author tries to answer the question of what factors influence the conceptualization of these deictic expressions in both languages.

The main purpose of this paper is to offer a new proposal about the origin of the frequentative meaning of the verbal periphrasis , different from Vázquez’s (1980) hypothesis of a loan-translation from Quechua, and from Lida de Malkiel’s (1948) interpretation of this as a cultism. Furthermore, the semantic trajectory that the auxiliary verb has followed will be traced.

El propósito de este estudio consistirá en explorar y analizar diacrónicamente una construcción perifrástica de carácter discursivo cuyo origen, vinculado al nacimiento de la prosa alfonsí, permitió otra dirección del cambio más “culta”, relegando así el paso intermedio por el ámbito temporal. Se sustrae, por lo tanto, de los moldes evolutivos comúnmente admitidos para la categoría de las perífrasis verbales. Se trata de , en cuyo proceso evolutivo adquirió el significado conceptual-procedimental, asemejándose de esta manera a la categoría invariable de marcadores discursivos con idea aditiva similar a la del conector además. Con la ayuda de un corpus relativamente amplio, que abarca las principales obras escritas entre los siglos XIII y XX, procuraremos detectar las razones que propiciaron su fijación semántica, sintáctica y pragmática en la lengua castellana.
