The paper deals with the R&D networks creation impact on the process on trust within a network. Different models were compared in order to draw some conclusions concerning the impact of a triggering entity on trust development in R&D network formation.

The modern notion of trust and the particular dimensions in which we have being observing the growth in its importance In the networking era are discussed. In the empirical part, there are examined links between trust and communications using various media. Interorganizational relations are used as a case study.

Rising role of a trust in dynamic and competitive environment makes trust become a subject of analyses in the inter-organization context − in the context of a supply chain. The aim of this paper is to explain a problem of trust by offering a proposal of an integrated model containing determinants, types and consequences of trust in supply chains.

The article shows problems of trust in building, development and functioning of scientific units with reference to given R & D networks. Three networks of scientific units which have different origin, potential and activity profile are discussed. The article refers to and is a continuation of an earlier publication titled “Trust in R & D network of scientific units. The role of originator” published in a quarterly “Management Science”. Case studies in this article show the importance of trust in different phases of development of a scientific unit as a key factor influencing network activity and illustrate the influence of conditioning on its level.
