Creative economy is formed and develops most rapidly in urban areas, and increasingly in the surrounding regions. It is based on the creative sector. Creative industries have become a key driving force in the economy by promoting innovation and building a modern information society.
The paper identifies key opportunities and threats of the realization the main objective of European Union cohesion policy with particular emphasis on the urban space. The analysis was performed taking into account both the latest theoretical achievements of the city-region relationship, as well as through the analysis of current activities and initiatives of the European Union in this field.
