Te year 2008 was named by the European Commission the Year of Intercultural Dialogue. Celebrations of the Year were intended to: respect and promote cultural diversity, support the idea of solidarity, ensure equal opportunity to the inhabitants of the EU, build partner relations with member EU countries and with the countries from outside the Community. Tis article is a short presentation of main events of the Year of Intercultural Dialogue in Poland. Tis paper draws attention to cultural pluralism and as to how cultural pluralism is implemented by the media. How the idea and the events of Year of Intercultural Dialogue were presented by media in Poland. Moreover, this paper analyzes how journalists contributed to promote cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue. Tis study is based on policy documents, reports of governments, NGO’s and international organizations, academic literature and content analyses of media in Poland.

In this article a special attention is paid to the to the role of public service broadcaster in cultural diversity societies. The main aims of the author was answering the following questions: how cultural pluralism is implemented by the public service broadcaster in Switzerland? How the Swiss PSB implements the principle of cultural pluralism, particularly in the context of the access of national, language communities and the migrants minorities to the media? Are all groups recognized by the public broadcaster in the same way? The second goal of the author was delivering answer to a question about the manner of how public broadcaster has adopted to the new situation and how the new ethnic groups are recognized by SGR SSR. The considerations are related to a cultural pluralism, which assumes that the media provide a guarantee of cultural diversity in a society. This article is a case study of Swiss public service broadcaster – SGR SSR idee suisse.

Media w ostatnich latach, jak to ujęto we wprowadzeniu, doświadczają mediamorfozy. Dotyczy to także mediów publicznych. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie istoty tych zmian w kontekście polityki pluralizmu kulturowego. A także odpowiedź na pytanie, w jakim zakresie zmiany technologiczne, sposób korzystania z mediów, ale także zmiany społeczne, ruchy migracyjne decydują o zakresie realizacji pluralizmu kulturowego. Za przykład posłużyła Szwajcarska Organizacja Radiowo-Telewizyjna – SRG SSR idee Suisse.

In recent years a debate on the mediamorphosis has been taking place in many countries. This debate also includes public service media. The main aim of this paper is to discuss the nature of cultural pluralism in the context of mediamorphosis. This paper is based on the case study of Swiss PSB – SRG SSR idee Suisse.
