Artykuł dotyczy zagadnień związanych z teorią umysłu i jej rozwojem u dzieci w wieku przedszkolnym i wczesnoszkolnym. W tekście opisano czym jest teoria umysłu i jakie funkcje pełni w życiu człowieka. Dokonano rozróżnienia między teorią umysłu pierwszego i drugiego rzędu. Wymieniono czynniki, których znaczenie dla kształtowania się teorii umysłu potwierdzono w badaniach. Sformułowano także teoretyczne przesłanki dla hipotezy, że forma kształcenia może moderować rozwój teorii umysłu u dzieci: z lekką niepełnosprawnością intelektualną, niesłyszących i słabo słyszących oraz bez niepełnosprawności. Jako podsumowanie przygotowano teoretyczny model ukazujący związki między opisywanymi zmiennymi.

The article concerns issues connected with Theory of Mind and its development among children in preschool and primary school age. I have described what Theory of Mind is and what are its functions for people’s lives. I have shown some differences between the first and the second Theory of Mind. I have also presented factors which influence on Theory of Mind was empirically proved. What is more, I have enunciated theoretical premises for hypothesis, that the educational setting can moderate development of Theory of Mind among children with mild intellectual disability, with hearing impairment and among children without disability. As a summary I have prepared a theoretical model, presenting links between described variables.
