This article refers to the changes of regulations in Polish penal law connected with conditional suspension of sentence and execution of such sentence. The paper describes the main problems that may occur during execution of such sentences by probation officers.

This paper describes the activities of professional probation officer undertaken to execute sentences of criminal court that refer to the penalty of restriction of liberty. The aim is to present a very important role of professional probation officer in the process of executing this kind of penalty. The presentation consists of two parts. The first one refers to regulations concerning the penalty of restriction of liberty in the Polish Penal Code which have influence on tasks and activities undertaken by probation officers in executing that penalty. The second part contains a description of all the activities that a professional probation officer has to undertake to execute the penalty of restriction of liberty, taking into consideration all legislative changes that have taken place in the last few years.
