W artykule zostanie dokonana analiza treści publikacji i prezentacji za lata 2010-2016, które były efektem zagranicznych staży pracowników Biblioteki Uniwersytetu Pedagogicznego w Krakowie. Zakresy tematyczne opisane w publikacjach obejmują dzieje bibliotek, ich architekturę, wyposażenie wnętrz, usługi, działalność naukową, ofertę dydaktyczną, a także formy uczestnictwa odbytych staży oraz ocenę, wrażenia i porównania.

The Erasmus Programme supports international cooperation of higher education institutions, provides opportunities for university student and staff mobility abroad, and, during 30 years of its activity, brought numerous analyses and studies. This article will be based on the analysis of the publications and presentations that were the effects of foreign internships of the library staff of the Pedagogical University of Cracow. The thematic areas described in the publications include the history of libraries, their architecture, interior furnishings, services, scientific activity, didactic offers, as well as forms of participation in traineeships and assessments, impressions and comparisons.
W artykule zaprezentowano przykłady inicjatyw, działań promocyjnych i niestandardowych usług mających decydujący wpływ na pozytywny wizerunek współczesnych bibliotek. Opisano również biblioteki o zabytkowym charakterze zbiorów, które wpisują się w krajobraz kulturowy miast, współtworzą atmosferę danych miejsc, przyciągając naukowców, pasjonatów, zwiedzających. Liczne przykłady dowodzą, że współczesne biblioteki stworzyły własny styl, a ich otwartość na innowacje techniczne sprawia, iż są postrzegane jako instytucje nowoczesne.

The article presents examples of initiatives, promotional activities and services that are critical to a positive image of modern libraries. The paper also describes old libraries with historical collections, which are part of the cultural landscape of cities, co-create the atmosphere of places, and are attractive for scientists, enthusiasts and visitors. Examples prove that libraries have created their own style, and their openness to technical innovations causes that the institutions are seen as modern.
Rękopisy z Qumran (Zwoje znad Morza Martwego) to unikatowy zbiór spisanych po hebrajsku, aramejsku i grecku żydowskich manuskryptów pochodzących sprzed blisko dwóch tysięcy lat. Ich odkrycie wiąże się z niezwykłymi wydarzeniami i zbiegami okoliczności. W latach 1947-1956 i 2017 w grotach położonych w okolicach Qumran, na północno-zachodnim wybrzeżu Morza Martwego znaleziono około 900 rękopisów. Ta jedna z najstarszych na świecie i najbogatsza kolekcja tekstów biblijnych jest obecnie przechowywana i prezentowana w specjalnie w tym celu wybudowanym Sanktuarium Księgi, stanowiącym część Muzeum Izraela w Jerozolimie.

Manuscripts from Qumran (The Dead Sea Scrolls) are a unique collection of Jewish manuscripts written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek nearly 2,000 years ago. Their discovery is associated with extraordinary events and coincidences. In twelve grottos located in the region of Qumran, on the north-west coast of the Dead Sea, in the years 1947-1956 and 2017 around 900 manuscripts were found. To protect and present one of the world's oldest and richest collections of biblical texts, the Shrine of the Book was built as part of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.
Łotewska Biblioteka Narodowa (NLL) od roku 2014 mieści się w nowym budynku, Zamku Światła, który zapewnia przestronne i przytulne czytelnie, sale konferencyjne, koncertowe i wystawowe, przestrzenie do pracy indywidualnej, grupowej oraz szkoleniowej. Zamek Światła stał się ikoną Rygi i jest przykładem trendów współczesnej filozofii budynków bibliotecznych, którą charakteryzuje otwartość, wielofunkcyjność, elastyczność. Księgozbiór Łotewskiej Biblioteki Narodowej liczy ponad 4,5 miliona egzemplarzy książek, periodyków, publikacji elektronicznych i audiowizualnych, a profil tematyczny koncentruje się na naukach humanistycznych i społecznych. Since 2014, The National Library of Latvia (NLL) has been located in a new building, the Castle of Light, which provides spacious and cosy reading rooms, conference and concert facilities, exhibition rooms, and individual, group and training work spaces. The Castle of Light has become an icon of Riga and is an example of trends in the contemporary philosophy of library buildings, which is characterized by openness, multifunctionality, and flexibility. The collection of the National Library of Latvia has over 4.5 million copies of books, periodicals, electronic and audiovisual publications, and its thematic profile focuses on the humanities and social sciences. The library is a significant scientific institution, a national bibliographic information centre, and performs the function of an archive of national literature.
Czasopisma elektroniczne są odpowiedzią na nowy model komunikowania, w którym priorytetem jest szybkie przekazywanie informacji o osiągnięciach naukowych i badawczych. Artykuł podzielono na trzy części. Pierwsza zawiera informacje ogólne z wyliczeniem plusów i minusów publikacji elektronicznych. Kolejna analizuje pod względem wydawców i częstotliwości wydań 56 polskich, naukowych i fachowych czasopism bibliotekarskich publikowanych zarówno w formie drukowanej jak i elektronicznej. W trzeciej części omówiono 9 tytułów bibliotekarskich e-czasopism uwzględniając informację o ich tematyce, zespołach redakcyjnych, czytelnikach i autorach tekstów.

Electronic journals are a response to a new model of communication, where the priority is rapid transmission of information about scientific and research achievements. This article is divided into three parts. The first one contains general information and enumerates the pros and cons of electronic publications. The next part presents the analysis of 56 Polish scientific and specialist librarian journals which are published both in print and in electronic format. The third section describes nine e-journals, including information about their topics, editorial teams, readers and authors of texts.
Artykuł podzielony jest na dwie części, z których pierwsza przedstawia wizje i przepowiednie jaki będzie świat bibliotek w roku 2020 (na podstawie wydanej w 2013 r. publikacji Josepha Janesa Library 2020: Today's Leading Visionaries Describe Tomorrow's Library). Biblioteka Główna Uniwersytetu w Coimbrze jest największą i najbogatszą biblioteką uniwersytecką w całym portugalskojęzycznym świecie. Jej zbiory zlokalizowane są w dwóch budynkach: barokowym (Bibliotece Joanina) wybudowanym w 1782 roku oraz głównym oddanym w roku 1962. W artykule zaprezentowano krótką historię biblioteki, jej zbiory oraz ofertę elektronicznych źródeł informacji, takich jak bazy danych oraz zasoby cyfrowe. University of Coimbra with its great book collection is undoubtedly the jewel of Portuguese heritage, science and culture. The General Library of the University of Coimbra is the biggest and richest University Library in the whole Portuguese-speaking world. It is divided into two buildings: the Baroque Library (Biblioteca Joanina) built in 1782, and the main building, which came into operation in 1962. The article briefly presents the history of the library, its collections and electronic information sources, such as databases and digital resources. The author also describes three faculty libraries of the University of Coimbra and their services for users.
