This article surveys issues related to the introduction and use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in Latvian schools, as well as international comparative studies in education related to the use of ICT at various levels of education. The article contains the main results and conclusions on the role of ICT in education in Latvia and in the world. All results have been obtained from international comparative studies in education, namely, IEA COMPED, IEA SITES, IEA TIMSS and OECD PISA.
