The monastery and palace complex in Lubiąż is a magnificent example of Baroque art in Lower Silesia and part of the highest quality European cultural heritage. It owes its glory to the Cistercians. However, over the last two hundred years, the condition of the buildings has gradually deteriorated, with the Second World War and the post-war period being particularly destructive. Today, various forms of promotion are sought to save the Lubiąż Abbey; these include commercial and cultural events like the Electrocity Festival or concerts during the Wratislavia Cantans Festival. A question arises whether these events can have any major impact on the restoration of the site. Is there a link between them and the development of tourism in Lubiąż? The author’s reflections are based on an analysis of the available source information, on a free-form interview with the President of the Lubiąż Foundation, and on a survey performed among the participants of the Electrocity Festival held in the former Cistercian Abbey. In addition, the article demonstrates the value of the historic monument of Lubiąż and of its Cistercian heritage.

The year 2014 saw another edition of the camp of university ministries from Wrocław and Opole, held in Biały Dunajec. The camp featured over 600 participants from 14 university ministries. The main purpose of the camp was to promote the idea of active leisure in the spirit of Christianity and to prepare students for life at the university and university ministries. Among the important forms of achieving the purpose, in addition to religious practices, were leisure activities and mountain tourism. The main research question asked in the paper stems from the need to verify the effectiveness of implementing the camp programme assumptions. The authors applied the diagnostic survey method and carried out an analysis of the available source documents. The article also contains information about the valuable educational initiative addressed to Wrocław students.

Celem artykułu jest analiza i ocena poziomu bezpieczeństwa rekreacji wodnej w obrębie Wrocławskiego Węzła Wodnego. W analizie zastosowano procedury wynikające z metodyki zarządzania ryzykiem, takie jak: identyfikacja istniejących zagrożeń, szacowanie ryzyka związanego z podjętym działaniem oraz opracowanie planów awaryjnych postępowania w sytuacji pojawiających się zagrożeń. Jest to nowatorskie podejście w naukach o kulturze fizycznej. Rozważania obejmują uwagi metodologiczne oraz wnioski metodyczne (edukacja dla bezpieczeństwa).

The aim of the paper is to analyze and assess the safety level of water recreation at Wroclaw Water Junction. The needed information is collected with the use of diagnostic survey (interview). During the data analysis the procedures resulted from risk management methodology, are applied. The analysis begins with the identification of the existing risks that is followed by risk assessment, and elaboration of contingency plans defining the appropriate response to emerging threats. This is a novel approach in the field of physical culture. Conducted considerations lead to some methodological remarks and conclusions (education for safety).

The ski teacher works in different conditions than other teachers, even different from other physical education teachers. The difference arises due to the season of the year and the venue of the skiing lessons. Such factors as the natural environment, harsh winter conditions, a potential threat to students’ safety and very strong emotions have an impact on human behavior, which is especially strong on the didactic communication on the slopes. The main difficulties regard the level and way of mutual perception of information. In search of effective methods of communicating between students and ski instructor we were attracted by the information value of the tracks on the snow. Each time a skier goes down he leaves ski tracks on the snow, which largely characterize the skiing technique performed. The properties of this track – its depth, radius, or type are dependent on many factors – including pressure forces, speed or force of friction. Raising the student’s awareness that the track left by him on the snow is the effect of the operations performed – may be an effective way of communication. This assumption constitutes the basis of the research problem. How to improve the didactic communication structure in skiing? Can the snow tracks be the basis of efficient didactic communication? Teaching effectiveness largely depends on the efficiency of the process of communication between teacher and students. The paper contains discussion focused on understanding the effectiveness of teaching skiing on the basis of a practical method that takes into account the analysis of traces of skis on the snow. The presented material is the basis for development of teaching methods to be used in experimental research as an independent variable.
