Przedmiotem rozważań podjętych w artykule jest empatia. Zaprezentowano w nim rozważa-nia teoretyczne dotyczące znaczenia empatii w pracy nauczyciela oraz wyniki badań własnych odnoszących się do poziomu empatii studentów kierunków o specjalności nauczycielskiej. Bada-nia przeprowadzono wśród 206 studentów. Do badań wykorzystano Kwestionariusz Rozumienia Empatycznego Innych Ludzi autorstwa Węglińskiego. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują na potrzebę rozwijania wrażliwości empatycznej u studentów rozpoczynających studia na kierunkach nauczy-cielskich.

The line of approach of this article is empathy. It presents theoretical considerations about the meaning of empathy in teacher´s work and results of personal research concerning levels of empa-thy of students of teaching careers. The research have been conducted among 206 students with the use of Empathy Questionnaire of Węgliński. The results obtained indicate the need for devel-oping empathy among students who begin their teaching careers.

Instytucją mającą szerokie możliwości niesienia pomocy dzieciom z rodzin alkoholowych jest szkoła. Nauczyciele ze względu na częsty i regularny kontakt z dziećmi są w wyjątkowej sytuacji sprzyjającej pomocy i skutecznej interwencji. W artykule po krótkim opisie specyfiki funkcjonowania rodzin alkoholowych przedstawiono możliwości i obszary organizowania pomocy i wsparcia dla dzieciz rodzin alkoholowych w warunkach pracy szkoły.

The school is an institution which has a wide array of possibilities to help children from alcoholic families. Teachers, due to their frequent and regular contact with the children, are in a position to intervene successfully in the child’s situation. The article begins with a brief description of a the specificity of functioning of alcoholic families. Then, it presents the possible areas of help and specific ways in which schools can provide support to children from alcoholic families.
