Celem artykułu było wskazanie na rosnącą rolę funkcji produkcji z uwagi na postępujące procesy globalizacji i konkurencyjności. Wyzwania te wymagają poszukiwań i stosowania metod, które w wymierny sposób określają podstawowe relacje w procesach produkcji oraz umożliwiają efektywność gospodarowania w przedsiębiorstwie. Za jedną z tych metod można uznać funkcję produkcji, podkreślając, że jej rola w przyszłości będzie coraz bardziej znacząca.

The article presents the possibilities of using the production function in business management. The purpose of this article is to indicate the growing importance of the production function because of the progressive processes of globalization and competitiveness. These challenges require the exploration and use of methods that measurably define the basic relations of production processes and enable effective management of the enterprise. One of these method scan be considered the production function, stressing thatits rolein the futurewill become increasingly significant.

The aim of the paper is to present basic information concerning legal regulations of fire protection and the status of fire brigades in the ancient Rome. The basis of these considerations are the available sources, mostly the Law of XII Tables and the title of the 15th book of Justinian Digests. The author concludes that due to constant disrespect of described fire norms fires remained the common plague of the inhabitants of the ancient Rome.
