The purpose of this article is to present a number of examples of foreign motifs in the photographic collections of the National Digital Archive. The author believes that the issue of "foreignness" shown in old photographs can arouse the curiosity of students attending Polish classes. Old photographs can provide a starting point for discussions on contemporary mores and cultural change, or provide ready material for the implementation of topics related to free time, fun and entertainment, etiquette and politeness, clothes, etc. On the other hand, foreign motifs in archival photographs show the variety of Polish relations with other nations over the decades.
