The study presents different approaches of foreign largely Anglo-Saxon history teaching methods to moral judgements in history teaching, and using several probes, illustrates the nature of moral judgements in the Czech educational milieu.

Taking an example of an analysis of viewers’ comments on the film Anthropoid (2016, directed by Sean Ellis), on the local Czech portal csfd.cz and on the portal IMDB.com, opened to the global viewing community, shows some differences in the reception of this film by the Czech and global audience. In this particular case, the relationships between global and local memory are illustrated and some memory studies theses are verified.

The article is a probe into the transformation of teachers’ attitudes towards research-oriented teaching. Five teachers tested a research-oriented textbook during one school year. Their approach to teaching gradually changed during the testing, from the initial uncritical enthusiasm to a more reserved, more critical attitude. Their methodological competencies also transformed (grew) complementary to the change of their epistemic beliefs. The article captures some problems associated with the implementation of research-oriented teaching in school practice.
