Purpose of the research is to reconstruct the process of production and maintenance of interaction order in conditions of a social welfare home for the intellectually disabled. A starting point is analysis of interpersonal relationships between personnel and wards, which determine the scope and specificity of social actors’ actions. A results of the performed research is reconstruction of the production and maintenance process of the institutional order in a social welfare home for mentally handicapped individuals, realized on the interaction level. Data analysis was performed in accordance with procedures of the grounded theory. The studies apply qualitative techniques, including the unstructured interview and participant observation. A theoretical inspiration for the deliberations presented in the article is the symbolic interactionism, included in the scope of the interpretative paradigm. Data come from studies carried out in the social welfare homes for intellectually handicapped individuals.

Celem badań jest rekonstrukcja procesu wytwarzania oraz podtrzymywania ładu interakcyjnego w domu pomocy społecznej dla osób niepełnosprawnych intelektualnie. Punktem wyjścia jest analiza relacji interpersonalnych personelu z podopiecznymi, które wyznaczają zakres i specyfikę działań aktorów społecznych. Rezultatem przeprowadzonych badań jest rekonstrukcja realizowanego na poziomie interakcji procesu budowania i podtrzymywania ładu instytucjonalnego w domu pomocy społecznej dla osób upośledzonych umysłowo. Analiza danych przeprowadzona została zgodnie procedurami metodologii teorii ugruntowanej. W badaniach wykorzystano techniki jakościowe, a wśród nich wywiad swobodny oraz obserwację uczestniczącą. Inspiracją teoretyczną dla prezentowanych w artykule rozważań jest mieszczący się w ramach paradygmatu interpretatywnego symboliczny interakcjonizm. Dane pochodzą z badań przeprowadzonych w domach pomocy społecznej dla osób niepełnosprawnych intelektualnie.
