The purpose of the text is to analyse the creation of Saint Hubert in the articles published from 2015 to 2019 in “Łowiec Polski”[Polish Hunter]-a hunting branch magazine. The patron was mentioned over 50 times in genre-varied texts such as articles, reports, wishes and greetings and notes. The linguistic image of St. Hubert has been created by various lexical and stylistic means. Apart from nominal and verbal forms there appear idioms, parallels, metaphoric expressions, words and phrases typical for hierarchic relations and knightly culture as well as both religious and hunting terminology. The analysis indicates the positive image of the patron of hunters in the excerpted texts. Saint Hubert cares for them, shows his mercy and plays a key roles during hunting when he rewards hunters with good fortune. The patron has a decisive role in hunters’ lives as he is the souvereign for them both during their lifetime and after their death and the hunters serve him faithfully.

Celem artykułu jest próba językowej analizy kreacji św. Huberta w artykułach opublikowanych w latach 2015-2019 w „Łowcu Polskim”. W różnych gatunkowo tekstach: artykułach, sprawozdaniach, życzeniach, notatkach patron myśliwych został przywołany ponad 50 razy. Językowy obraz świętego Huberta kreują różne środki językowo-stylistyczne. Oprócz form nominalnych i werbalnych odnajdujemy frazeologizmy, porównania, zmetaforyzowane wyrażenia, wyrazy i zwroty typowe dla hierarchicznej relacji i kultury rycerskiej, terminologię zarówno religijną, jak i łowiecką. Analiza wskazuje, iż w wyekscerpowanych tekstach funkcjonuje pozytywny wizerunek opiekuna myśliwych. Święty Hubert troszczy się o nich, okazuje im swą łaskę, odgrywa decydującą rolę w czasie polowania, nagradza polujących powodzeniem w czasie łowów. W życiu myśliwych patron odgrywa znaczącą rolę, jest władcą nie tylko za życia polujących, ale i po ich śmierci, zaś oni służą mu wiernie.

Przedmiotem badań w niniejszym artykule są modlitwy skierowane do świętego Huberta, wyekscerpowane z publikacji internetowych i wydawnictw zwartych. W pracy podjęta została próba określenia kształtu językowo-stylistycznego badanych tekstów, wskazania pełnionych przez nie funkcji, przedstawienia utrwalonego w nich obrazu świętego. W badanych modlitwach wykorzystane zostały: struktura dialogiczna, sformalizowany kształt, słownictwo nacechowane stylistycznie, a także elementy języka środowiskowego – gwary myśliwskiej, co wyodrębnia je spośród innych. Wśród wyrażanych przez wiernych potrzeb i pragnień wyróżniają się te mające powiązania z przyrodą i łowiectwem, bowiem szczególnym kultem otaczają świętego Huberta ludzie lasu i myśliwi. Stanowi on dla nich wzorzec pobożności, wskazuje im drogę postępowania, jest ich patronem. Badane teksty stanowią przede wszystkim świadectwo wiary, są aktem kultu, ale także kreują poczucie tożsamości społecznej i budują poczucie przynależności do grupy.

The subject of the study in the hereby article are the prayers directed to Saint Hubert and excerpted from the Internet and non-serial publications. It has been attempted to define the linguistic and stylistic features of the studied texts, their functions and display of the capturing the image of the Saint. In the analyzed prayers there were used: dialogical structure, a formalized pattern, the lexis which is stylistically marked, as well as elements of vocabulary items from the hunter’s jargon which make them distinguishing. Among desires and needs expressed by the faithful there can be distinguished those connected with the nature and hunting as the people living close to nature and hunters worship Saint Hubert. He sets the example for them to follow as far as devotion goes, directs them in their behaviour as their patron saint. The researched texts are the examples of not only the testimony of their faith, the act of the cult but also the creation of social awareness and attachment to the community.

W pracy podjęta została próba określenia wpływu kultu patrona myśliwych na kulturę i obrzędowość myśliwską oraz przedstawienia malarskie.Przedmiotem badań w niniejszym artykule są wybrane przykłady dziedzictwa św. Huberta rozumiane jako całokształt duchowego i materialnego dorobku społeczeństwa. Ich analiza wskazuje, iż kult patrona myśliwych wpłynął znacząco na kulturę i obrzędowość myśliwską oraz teksty ikonograficzne. Przejawem kultu św. Huberta są różnego typu teksty językowe, kościoły i kaplice pod wezwaniem świętego oraz kapliczki jemu poświęcone, organizowane msze święte i uroczystości ku czci świętego oraz przedstawienia malarskie, których tematem jest wizja św. Huberta.Patron myśliwych i leśników, stając się postacią jednoczącą ludzi związanych z lasem, budującą poczucie przynależności do grupy, symbolizuje cenione przez nich wartości i jest ważną częścią duchowego i materialnego dorobku społeczeństwa.

There has been made an attempt to depict the impact of hunters ‘patron’s cult on the hunting culture as well as ceremonials and painting representations. The research subject of the given paper are the selected examples of Saint Hubert heritage meant by intellectual, spiritual and material acquis in its entirety. The analyses indicates that the cult of St. Hubert influenced significantly the culture and hunting rites as well as iconographic texts. The manifestation of St. Hubert cult can be various texts, churches and temples as well as temples devoted solely to their patron, organizing masses and celebrating in honor of the Saint and organizing painting exhibitions where the main theme is the St. Hubertus’ vision. The patron of hunters and foresters , becoming the gestalt unifying people close to woods and building the bond of belonging to a group, symbolizes the values respected by the previously mentioned occupations as well as being the vital part of spiritual and material heritage of the society.
