The aim of this article is to present two different legal institutions related to the provision of legal services in Poland. At the beginning of 2016 a new act introduced free legal aid scheme. Whereas the statutory provisions regarding legal expenses insurance were recently extended as a result of implementation of the Solvency II Directive into Polish law. These institutions shall fulfil different functions, but they both contribute to the growth of legal awareness among Polish society.

W artykule zostały omówione wybrane kwestie odnoszące się do świadczenia pomocy prawnej w Polsce na przykładzie dwóch instytucji wprowadzonych do polskiego porządku prawnego w ostatnim czasie. 1 stycznia 2016 r. weszła w życie ustawa wprowadzająca regulacje odnoszące się do nieodpłatnej pomocy prawnej. Natomiast rezultatem implementacji przepisów dyrektywy Wypłacalność II w nowej ustawie o działalności ubezpieczeniowej i reasekuracyjnej było istotne rozwinięcie dotychczasowych ubogich przepisów dotyczących ubezpieczenia ochrony prawnej. Analiza najważniejszych zagadnień wokół obu tych instytucji jest pretekstem do innego spojrzenia na problem świadczenia pomocy prawnej w Polsce
