St. Francis is undoubtedly one of the most popular Christian saints. There are two different biographies of St. Francis. The biography by Thomas da Celano is a historical description of St. Francis` life although written according to the medieval hagiographical canons. St. Bonaventure was a theologian and philosopher first of all. He shows us St. Francis as a perfect follower of Jesus. The other biographies relied heavily on Vita prima, Vita secunda or Legenda maior. Notwithstanding the first biographies based on the very first documents and contemporary relations, some questions still linger. Nevertheless, St. Francis message is clear: equality of all before God, everyone is called for the evangelical life, evangelism through good example rather than through words alone. Important is an emulation the radical poverty of Jesus, fidelity and obedience to the Church, which is represented and guided by pope.

Artykuł przedstawia historię założenia Instytutu Misyjnego Verbum Dei jako nowej formy życia konsekrowanego. Został założony w 1963 r. przez ks. Jaime Bonet Bonet na Majorce (Hiszpania) i zatwierdzony jako diecezjalne świeckie stowarzyszenie apostolskie. Droga założycielska kończy się uznaniem i zatwierdzeniem 15 kwietnia 2000 r. przez Kongregację ds. Instytutów Życia Konsekrowanego i Stowarzyszeń Życia Apostolskiego jako Fraternidad Misionera Verbum Dei. Konfiguracja prawna Fraternidad Misionera Verbum Dei towarzyszy drodze założycielskiej i przekazowi charyzmatu. Jego rozwój jest związany z misją promowaną przez założyciela, doświadczeniem misyjnym i wiernością charyzmatowi wszystkich, którzy poczuli się powołani do przeżywania powołania i misji Fraternidad Misionera Verbum Dei.

The article presents the history of the founding of the Verbum Dei Missionary Institute as a new form of consecrated life. It was founded in 1963 by the Rev. Jaime Bonet Bonet in Mallorca (Spain) and approved as a diocesan lay apostolic association. Its founding itinerary ends with the recognition and approval on April 15, 2000 by the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life as the Fraternidad Misionera Verbum Dei. The legal configuration of the Fraternidad Misionera Verbum Dei accompanies the founding journey and the transmission of the charism. Its development is linked to the mission promoted by the founder, the missionary experience and fidelity to the charism of all who have felt called to live the vocation and mission of the Fraternidad Misionera Verbum Dei.

El artículo presente la historia de la fundación el Instituto Misionero Verbum Dei como una nueva forma de vida consagrada. Fue fundada el año 1963 por el sacerdote Jaime Bonet Bonet en Mallorca (España) y aprobada como asociación apostólica laical diocesana. Su itinerario fundacional se termina con el reconocimiento y aprobación el 15 de abril de 2000 por la Congregación para los Institutos de Vida Consagrada y las Sociedades de Vida Apostólica como Fraternidad Misionera Verbum Dei. La configuración jurídica de la Fraternidad Misionera Verbum Dei acompaña el camino fundacional y la transmisión del carisma. Su desarrollo está unida a la misión impulsada por el fundador, la vivencia misionera y fidelidad al carisma de todos que se han sentido llamados a vivir la vocación y misión Fraternidad Misionera Verbum Dei.
