Incipity recenzji muzycznej – ujęcie porównawcze (wybrane zagadnienia)

The objective of the article is a contrastive genre-based analysis of selected incipits of music review. The material is retrieved from the Polish magazine “Teraz Rock” and the American biweekly “Rolling Stone” (all 2015 issues). The analysis shows that the two magazines in question share many compositional and stylistic similarities. Incipits can inform about the type of music, the artist’s phonographic achievements, or contain biographical elements. The beginning of the music review is a strategic position where the communicative goals of this genre, i.e. information and evaluation are revealed. In addition, the research proves that the incipit of the music review performs a persuasive function as it aims to encourage the reader to continue reading the full text.

Celem artykułu jest analiza wybranych incipitów recenzji muzycznej w ujęciu porównawczym. Materiał obejmuje recenzje z polskiego magazynu „Teraz Rock” oraz amerykańskiego „Rolling Stone” (roczniki 2015). Analiza dowodzi, że oba czasopisma wykazują wiele podobieństw kompozycyjnych i stylistycznych. Incipity mogą informować o rodzaju muzyki, dorobku fonograficznym artysty czy zawierać wybrane elementy biograficzne. Początek recenzji muzycznej to miejsce strategiczne, w którym ujawniają się cele komunikacyjne tego gatunku, tj. informacja i ocena. Incipity pełnią także funkcję perswazyjną, gdyż mają zachęcić czytelnika do dalszej lektury.

The aim of the paper is to investigate music reviews in relation to discourse analysis. The data was collected from a Polish monthly “Teraz Rock” and an American biweekly “Rolling Stone” (all issues from 2015). The study proves that print media music reviews are rooted in print media discourse which absorbs, to some extent, other types of discourse, such as: music, artistic, elite and promotional. The examination of discourse configuration in music reviews enables to distinguish some features of journalism cultures, typical of the magazines in question.

Celem artykułu jest analiza uwikłań dyskursywnych prasowej recenzji muzycznej. Badaniem zostały objęte recenzje wyekscerpowane z polskiego miesięcznika „Teraz Rock” oraz amerykańskiego dwutygodnika „Rolling Stone” (roczniki 2015). Materiał dowodzi, że w prasowej recenzji muzycznej dominuje dyskurs prasowy, który wchłania elementy dyskursów: muzycznego, elitarnego, artystycznego oraz z zakresu reklamy i promocji. Uwikłania dyskursywne tego gatunku umożliwiają do pewnego stopnia rekonstrukcję kultur dziennikarskich, które dominują w obu magazynach.
