„Obiektywność skonstruowana”? Kategoria obiektywności w postkonstruktywistycznych studiach nad nauką i technologią

Celem artykułu jest zarysowanie kategorii obiektywności z perspektywy postkonstruktywistycznych studiów nad nauką i technologią. Choć są to koncepcje odrzucające klasyczne ujęcia wiedzy i nauki, namysł nad obiektywnością zajmuje w nich istotne miejsce. Wypracowane w nich rozumienie tego pojęcia zakłada jej „konstruowany” charakter, a zarazem podkreśla związki ze swoiście pojmowaną rzeczywistością. Obiektywność stanowi więc właściwość wytworów naukowych, uzyskanych w toku skomplikowanych laboratoryjnych praktyk, których zakres i charakter jest nieustannie ograniczany poprzez tzw. materialny opór rzeczywistości, widoczny w działaniach maszyn i instrumentów badawczych. Za przykłady tak rozumianego podejścia do kategorii obiektywności posłużą w artykule stanowiska wypracowane przez Bruno Latoura i Andrew Pickeringa.

The aim of the article is to present the notion of objectivity from the standpoint of the postconstructivist Science and Technology Studies. Although these approaches deny the classical understanding of knowledge and science, refl ection upon objectivity remains an important point of their interest. Objectivity is assumed to be of a “constructed” character, yet at the same time as bearing a relation to a specifi cally understood independent reality. Thus, it is a quality of a scientifi c result, itself achieved in the course of complex laboratory practices which are constantly delimited by the so-called material resistance of reality, exercised by means of various machines and instruments. The examples of such standing towards the notion of objectivity are provided with the conceptions of Bruno Latour and Andrew Pickering.
