The article focuses on the new faces of the 21st century understanding of childhood, that is, more specifically, when a child becomes an investment of its parents. The moment the child starts receiving formal education all parental measures and efforts are aimed to create a successful individual. “High quality” children are representatives of modern childhood, which is not always an idyllic one. The aim of this article is to present how the perception of childhood has changed and what consequences this new perception arises for the contemporary child.
