The development of Slovak Slavic science in the international context depends primarily on the competitiveness of its results, which are measurable in Slavic research especially in terms of their acceptance in the national and international context. The paper focuses on some program lines of Slavic scientific research, which are carried out in the environment of academic Slavic studies in coordination with the Slovak Committee of Slavists. In this context, cooperation with the International Committee of Slavists and Slavic research institutes abroad plays a special role.

As in previous years, the aim of the study for 2013-2014 was to grasp the publication activity of the researchers of the Institute of History of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. The study maps all the book publications or expert academic monographs, whether collective or individual, volumes of conference papers, editions of sources, syntheses, multi-volume encyclopaedic or dictionary works, secondary school textbooks and other popularizing books. The most important results of the research work by authors from the institute are the publications from projects financially supported by the scientific grant agencies (Centre for Excellence of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Agency for Research and Development, Grant agency of the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic VEGA). During this period, the authors covered various periods and themes, especially political, economic and social, but also subjects from environmental and cultural history, as well as individual biographies. The study is based on the record of the publication activity of the institute. Its content corresponds to the directive of the Slovak Academy of Sciences no. 303/A/2015 on the recording and classification of publication activity and its reception.

The researchers of the Institute of History of the Slovak Academy of Sciences were responsible for successful and rich publication activity in 2017 – 2018. A wide range of works appeared on almost all chronological periods of Slovak history and on some selected problems from general history. They continue the positive work of Slovak historiography. The most important results appeared as output from academic projects supported by the domestic grant agencies: the Agency for Research and Development (APVV) and the grant agency MŠ SR VEGA. More than fifty books were published including individual and collective monographs, source editions, volumes of papers from academic conferences and popularizing publications by respected domestic and international publishers including VEDA, vydavateľstvo SAV, Nakladatelství Academia Praha, Peter Lang Verlag, Klartext Verlag Essen, and Biblion Media Leipzig.
