The Military History Archive in Bratislava holds a little-known document on the participation of Air Park staff at Mokraď during the Slovak National Uprising, prepared in April 1947 by Major Daniel Kunic, former commander of Infantry Battalion VI/53, at the request of the Information Commission of the Slovak National Council. The author of this document was born on January 4, 1911, in Pukanec and was originally a teacher by profession. He was activated in the Slovak Army in 1940. In the spring of 1944, he actively joined the anti-fascist resistance within the Air Park at Mokraď airfield. Following the outbreak of the Slovak National Uprising on 29 August 1944, he took command of the Air Park and organised its staff into a combat unit, which was incorporated into the VI Tactical Group as Battalion VI/53 (codename: “Lev” (Lion)) on 10 September 1944. After the war, he continued serving in the Czechoslovak army until 31 December 1957, when he was discharged to the reserves with the rank of colonel. The report is chronological in nature and concerns events of the Slovak National Uprising.
