Greek refugees from Bulgaria, who during the 1920s settled down in Greek Macedonia, brought over the ancient cult of the Anastenaria, a pagan ritual which merged the Christian holiday of St. Constantine and his mother, Helen. The presented text contains a description of the basic elements of the holiday in question, with special attention paid to the icon of the Anastenarides, traditionally described as the superior component of the cult.
