Celem pracy jest przybliżenie sylwetki i dorobku naukowego Marii Seidler-Dymitrowskiej (1899-1971), która była lekarzem, okulistą a także kierownikiem Kliniki Okulistycznej Akademii Medycznej w Białymstoku. Seidler-Dymitrowska była pierwszą kobietą w historii polskiej okulistyki, która uzyskała tytuł profesora. Jej najważniejsze prace naukowe dotyczyły dziedziny mikrochemii narządu wzroku i biochemii oka. Ponadto, pracowała nad ulepszeniem metod leczenia i operacji oka.

The aim of the study is to present the biography and scientific achievements of Maria Seidler-Dymitrowska (1899- 1971), who was the head of the Ophthalmology Clinic of the Medical Academy in Białystok. Seidler-Dymitrowska was the first woman in the history of Polish ophthalmology to receive the title of professor. Her most important scientific works concerned the field of eye biochemistry. In addition, she worked to improve eye treatments and surgery.
