The paper discusses the oeuvre of two Polish-born artists whose artistic work is con ducted internationally – Goshka Macuga and Alicja Patanowska. Both artists are diametrically diverent in their artistic content and they belong to two diverent generations – Macuga is a mature, internationally recognized artist, whereas Patanowska is one of the representatives of a young generation of artists. Despite the diverences, the author was able to determine a number of common features that characterize the two, which she presents and analyses in order to understand the phenomenon of their artistic careers.
