Author analyzed six films made in the first period of the Franco regime (1939-1951) depicting the history of Spanish colonial America from Columbus to Spanish American war. These films provide a legitimizing mythology of the government policy of the moment. The exaltation of the epic of colonization serves to extol the epic values of the nationalist crusade.

W artykule zanalizowano sześć filmów powstałych w pierwszym okresie dyktatury frankistowskiej w Hiszpanii (dokładniej w latach 1942-1951) przedstawiających odkrycie Ameryki, jej kolonizacje i utratę ostatnich kolonii wskutek wojny amerykańsko-hiszpańskiej. Filmy te kreują legitymizującą mitologię aktualnej polityki rządu. Wywyższenie eposu kolonizacji służy wychwalaniu epickich wartości nacjonalistycznej krucjaty.
