Liczba zgonów w Polsce, podobnie jak w innych krajach, wykazuje znaczące wahania sezonowe. W miarę polepszania się poziomu życia, a przede wszystkim poziomu opieki zdrowotnej, amplituda wahań sezonowych liczby zgonów zazwyczaj maleje. W Polsce zmalała ona w latach 2005-2008 w porównaniu z latami 1980-1983, lecz wzrosła (z wyjątkiem zgonów na wsi) w latach 2012-2015 w porównaniu z latami 2005-2008. W latach 2012-2015 zaobserwowano także statystycznie istotne różnice pomiędzy wskaźnikami wahań sezonowych liczby zgonów mężczyzn i kobiet oraz w mieście i na wsi.

Number of deaths in Poland, similarly as in the other countries, reveals significant seasonal fluctuations. As the standard of living, and the level of health care improve, annual range of seasonal fluctuations of number of deaths usually decreases. In Poland annual amplitude of seasonal fluctuations of number of deaths decreased in the years 2005-2008 as compared to the years 1980-1983, but increased (with the exception of rural areas) in the years 2012-2015 in comparison to the period 2005-2008. In the years 2012-2015 statistically significant differences between seasonal indices of the number of deaths of men and women, and between urban and rural areas were observed.
