The question about the unity and interaction of the world and Russian literature has always drawn the great interest of investigaters. We can’t answer this question without the serious analysis of the base of A. Akhmatova’s artistic system who had a gift of organic connection of antiquity, mythology and Russian folklore. Besides the base of poetic of Akhmatova’s works is different folk and mythological motives, for example, “wandering” motives. This article is dedicated to the existence of any motive, study of its semantics.

The article focuses on the functioning of crossing quotations in Anna Akhmatova's Requiem. The author demonstrates that the image of the monument in the Epilogue is based on complex semantic relationships with the genre model of XXX Ode by Horace and the reminiscences of Dante's Divine Comedy.

The article applies to Józef Czapski’s – a Polish painter and essayist – personal literary choices; ones that often were contrary to the tastes of his generation. In 1942, after leaving the Soviet bloc, Czapski developed the anthology Polskie wiersze wojenne for Russian readers, and the events of the war caused him to change his opinion about the modern poetry. Poems by the Skamandrites, whom he had disregarded for a long time, now became the core of his collection. Having been found a few years back, the anthology was published in 2019.
