The paper sketches Bronislaw Baczko's intellectual and political biography since his communist youth through his involvement in the 'revisionist' circle in the late 1950s and 1960s until the rejection of communism and Marxism. In this framework it presents the ideas of the Polish 'revisionism', recalls some friends of Baczko, and discusses some major works of him including those of the last twenty years.
