The paper carries out an overview and classification of various measures of the business situation of the mortgage market in Poland. On the basis of the values of selected indexes it was analyzed the correlation between economic situation barometers and the characteristics of the credit market growth. The surveys of the situation on the mortgage market have been conducting at different intervals, in different ways, taking into account the subjective assessment of banks staff, analysis the financial conditions offered credit products and their availability. In addition to the traditionally conducted by the National Bank of Poland business tendency survey of housing loans, the different institutions began to publish indexes characterizing the restrictiveness of banks in providing financing (credit availability indexes) in recent years. The study of the relationships between the economic barometers and growth sector of housing loans confirmed only the strong correlation with Pengab.
