The text is concerned with the problematic of the translation and interpretation of Heidegger’s philosophical term “das Ereignis”. This, as he himself says, became his leading term for thinking through the character of being. The author attempts to trace how, in the course of the next decades, the meaning of this term in Heidegger deepened and was transformed. Connected with this are, then, difficulties in attempts to find a possible adequate translation, or rather interpretation, of what Heidegger called this “untranslatable term”.
