Jedną z bardziej interesujących części zbiorów Biblioteki Głównej UMK jest znajdujący się tam od niedawna depozyt Biblioteki Katedry Filologii Germańskiej. Jego geneza łączy się nierozerwalnie z dziejami Uniwersytetu oraz samej Katedry, kształcącej germanistów już od ponad 40 lat. Celem autora jest poznanie tego księgozbioru, zarówno pod względem jego proweniencji, jak i wartości dla germanistów i historyków. Ważną kwestia jest ustalenie głównych twórców biblioteki germanistycznej po II wojnie światowej, jak również po reaktywacji Katedry Filologii Germańskiej w 1969 r. Depozyt Katedry Filologii Germańskiej w BG UMK liczy 7627 tomów. Już sam fakt sposobu jego powstawania, szczególnie po II wojnie światowej, głównie drogą zabezpieczania zbiorów poniemieckich, a ponadto zakupów i darów, musiał wpłynąć na różnorodność gatunkową oraz proweniencję. W depozycie daje się zauważyć mnogość ośrodków, z których nastąpiło rozproszenie zbiorów bibliotecznych. W ujęciu geograficznym jest to obszar od Greifswaldu na zachodzie po Królewiec na wschodzie. Od Gdańska i Słupska na północy aż po Dzierżoniów (Reichenbach), Świdnicę (Schweidnitz) oraz Wrocław na południu. W księgozbiorze tym można wyróżnić prozę i poezję niemiecką ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem twórców z XIX i pierwszej połowy XX w., następnie opracowania krytyczne literatury niemieckiej, słowniki języka niemieckiego w tym rozmaitych jego dialektów. Ustalenia niewątpliwie autora potwierdzają tezę, że charakteryzowany księgozbiór ma niewątpliwie nie tylko ciekawą proweniencję, często udokumentowaną znakami własnościowymi w postaci pięknych exlibrisów lub superexlibrisów, ale przede wszystkim znaczną wagę dla filologów germańskich. Może bowiem stanowić cenną pomoc naukową dla badań językoznawczych i historycznych (historia Niemiec i Skandynawii). Kryje on jeszcze, pomimo powyższych ustaleń, wiele zagadek, które trudno rozwiązać przy pomocy będących do dyspozycji źródeł historycznych. Tekst skłania do refleksji nad zawiłymi, ale też trudnymi nieraz do odtworzenia, drogami transferu księgozbiorów prywatnych i instytucjonalnych po II wojnie światowej.

One of the most interesting parts of the collection of the Main Library of Nicolaus Copernicus University are the resources of the Library of the Department of German which were moved there not long ago. Their origin is inextricably connected with the history of the university and the Department of German where German philologists have been educated for over 40 years. The aim of the author is to get to know the collection both in terms of its origin and value for German philologists and historians. It is important to establish who the main creators of the Library of the Department of German were after WWII and how the Department was reactivated in 1969. The resources of the Library of the Department of German in the Main Library of Nicolaus Copernicus University comprise 7627 volumes. The collection is characterised by a great variety of genres and origins due the fact that it includes German resources taken over after WWII along with various donations and purchases. Books come from a variety of centres from Greifswald in the west to Königsberg in the east; from Gdańsk and Słupsk in the north to Dzierżoniów (Reichenbach), Świdnica (Schweidnitz) and Wrocław in the south. The collection includes German prose and poetry with particular emphasis on the writers of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. It also comprises critical reviews of German literature, dictionaries of the German language and its various dialects. The origin of many books in the collection is very interesting – the previous ownership is indicated by beautiful bookplates or super-exlibris. Nevertheless, it must be stressed that the book collection is of great value to German philologists. It may help them in their scientific research in the areas of linguistics and history (the history of Germany and Scandinavia). There are still mysteries hidden behind the collection which are difficult to solve with the historical sources available at the moment. The article invites the reader to reflect on the rich history of private and institutional book collections after WW II.

Einer der interessantesten Teile der Hauptbibliothek der Nikolaus-Kopernikus-Universität (UMK) ist das sich erst seit Kurzem dort befindliche Depot der Bibliothek des Lehrstuhls für Germanistische Philologie. Seine Entstehungsgeschichte ist untrennbar mit der Geschichte der Universität und dem Lehrstuhl selbst verbunden, wo bereits seit über 40 Jahren Germanisten ausgebildet werden. Das Ziel des Autors ist es, diese Büchersammlung kennenzulernen, sowohl im Hinblick auf ihre Herkunft als auch ihren Wert für Germanisten und Historiker. Eine wichtige Frage ist die Ermittlung der Hauptbegründer der germanistischen Bibliothek nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wie auch nach der Wiederbelebung des Germanistischen Lehrstuhls im Jahr 1969. Das Depot des Lehrstuhls für Germanistische Philologie in der Hauptbibliothek der UMK zählt 7.627 Bände. Allein schon die Umstände seines Entstehens, insbesondere nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, hauptsächlich über die Sicherstellung der ehemals deutschen Bestände und darüber hinaus durch Käufe und Schenkungen, mussten sich auf die Vielfalt der Gattungen und Provenienz auswirken. Im Depot lässt sich eine Fülle von Zentren erkennen, aus denen die Bibliotheksbestände zerstreut wurden. Geographisch betrachtet handelt es sich um ein Gebiet von Greifswald im Westen bis Kaliningrad (Königsberg) im Osten. Von Gdańsk (Danzig) und Słupsk (Stolp) im Norden bis nach Dzierżoniów (Reichenbach), Świdnica (Schweidnitz) und Wrocław (Breslau) im Süden. In dieser Büchersammlung sind deutsche Prosa und Poesie mit besonderer Berücksichtigung der Autoren des 19. und der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts hervorzuheben, im Folgenden kritische Abhandlungen zur deutschen Literatur, Wörterbücher der deutschen Sprache und ihrer verschiedenen Dialekte. Die Ermittlungsergebnisse des Autors bestätigen die These, dass die beschriebene Büchersammlung zweifellos nicht nur eine interessante Provenienz hat, die häufig durch Bücherzeichen in Form von schönen Exlibris oder Superexlibris dokumentiert ist, sondern vor allem von beträchtlichem Wert für germanistische Philologen ist. Sie kann nämlich eine wertvolle wissenschaftliche Hilfe für sprachwissenschaftliche und historische Forschungen (deutsche und skandinavische Geschichte) sein. Trotz der oben genannten Ermittlungsergebnisse birgt sie noch viele Rätsel, die mithilfe der zur Verfügung stehenden historischen Quellen schwerlich zu lösen sind. Der Text regt zur Reflexion über die verworrenen, oft schwer zu rekonstruierenden Transferwege von privaten und institutionellen Büchersammlungen nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg an.
