Celem artykułu jest rozpoznanie zmian stopnia korzystania z usług instytucji otoczenia biznesu przez małe i średnie przedsiębiorstwa reprezentujące tradycyjne branże przemysłu w latach 2007–2013.Badania, w formie wywiadu ankietowego, przeprowadzono wśród 54 małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw w województwie wielkopolskim w latach 2011–2013. Ich wyniki porównano z podobnymi zrealizowanymi w okresie 2007–2009 w tym samym województwie. Materiał empiryczny opisano za pomocą metod statystyki opisowej. Podjęte badanie przeanalizowano na tle charakterystyki instytucji otoczenia w Polsce. W wyniku przeprowadzonej analizy stwierdzono, że w latach 2011–2013zmieniła się intensywność i kierunki współpracy małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw z instytucjami otoczenia biznesu, została zapoczątkowana współpraca z ośrodkami innowacji i przedsiębiorczości, zwiększył się stopień korzystania przedsiębiorców z oferowanych usług – za wyjątkiem poręczeń i gwarancji kredytowych – oraz zmieniły się oczekiwania przedsiębiorców w kierunku wzrostu zainteresowania różnymi formami doradztwa biznesowego.

The aim of the article is to identify how much SMEs representing traditional lines of industry used the services of business environment institutions in the years 2007–2013. The research was conducted through a survey among 54 SMEs in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship between 2011 and 2013. The results of the research were compared with a similar study carried out in the years 2007-2009 in the same region. The empirical material was described using the methods of descriptive statistics. The research was described against the background of business environment institutions in Poland. As a result of the study it was found that, in the years 2011-2013, the intensity and focus of cooperation between SMEs and business environment institutions changed, collaboration with innovation and entrepreneurship centres was introduced, the level of use by entrepreneurs of the services offered increased (except for guarantees for loans) and the expectations of entrepreneurs concerning their interest in various forms of business consultancy increased.
