The article is about the relationship of the real economic needs concerning the institution of clusters in relation to the level of knowledge about them, as well as trends and consequences of their existing. Cooperation strategy included in the institution of cluster is in conflict with competition previously understood. Any benefits of this cooperation come from being uninformed. That's why the need of objective and competent consciousness is therefore essential.

The paper discusses the issue related to the activities of clusters in the European Union. The Community area is not uniform in this respect. EU-15 countries ahead newly adopted states to groups both in terms of number functioning of cluster structures, the degree of their development and the level of technological advancement. The article also pays attention on the effects of the functioning of clusters in the European Union, particularly in the context of their impact on employment, innovation and export performance. The study highlighted the function of the public authorities to establish and functioning of cluster structures in the EU, too.

The article refers to the issues of socio-economic clusters embedded in the health care market, with a particular focus on regional initiatives. It discusses the theoretical concepts in order to specify the particular types of activity of the health care cluster. It also attempts to determine the key hypotheses for research on cooperation in the area of public goods, which production and consumption is a result of synergy based on the cooperation of private companies, research and development institutions, consulting and training providers, local governments, non-governmental organizations and business environment entities.

The paper aims to indicate the possibility of implementation of innovative cluster initiatives in the process of revitalisation of the old town urban units. The article attempts to gather the most important aspects of a model cluster project aimed at the revitalisation of historic urban area. Reality of revitalisation and its effectiveness, as well as the use of the social, economic and cultural potential of historic urban units were illustrated by the example of revitalisation of Old Tow in Lublin. It is proposed to change the approach towards the problems that the revitalisation of the old town units causes and emphasise the cluster initiatives which can accelerate the process of revitalisation and improve its effectiveness. In addition, the possibility of deviation from the plan which utilises the funds received from the municipality and the EU "aid" funds as entire funding sources was proposed. (original abstract)

The article presents the concept of clusters and its potential positive influence on the entrepreneurship expansion in the areas they run. The definition of cluster and entrepreneurship is included in that elaboration. Author indicated innovations as a key factor of entrepreneurship expansion which is strongly supported by the cooperation in clusters. In the article there is contained the author analysis of the connections between clusters advantages and key functions of entrepreneurship. Author tries to show how cluster affects on each of this functions. The elaboration presents the potential of clustering but also indicates the problems of polish conditioning for creating and effective development of such a cooperation. There are pointed some conclusions of author's researches in this area as well as the results of the researches made by Deloitte company. Article presents strongly positive influence of clusters on entrepreneurship and shows that it is worth to develop the clusters cooperation in polish regions.

This article is dedicated to the economic mechanism of the dynamic sea port logistic (transport) cluster in the economy of the Odessa region. The need to transition to the new cluster structures and their implementation into the Ukrainian economy is caused by the high degree of efficiency, as well as the influence, which the ports and logistics businesses have on the economy of the country. In this paper, models of influence of transport and logistics companies in the form of cluster on the effectiveness of foreign economic activity of the Odessa region are associated with the State Enterprise "The Odessa Sea Commercial Port". The results can be used at sea ports, transport and logistics, and other industrial enterprises, as well as to create sea port dynamic clusters. Defined and described in the paper models and mechanisms are universal, so they can be used for the calculations to improve the efficiency of foreign economic activity in different regions.

In the paper an innovation approach to modelling and coordination of intermodal network is given. The main aim of the carried out research was to create the solution, which would eliminate existing barriers concerning development on intermodal haulages. Moreover, created solution takes into consideration strong relations between actors involved in transport processes and the transport system of the region/country. Based on the carried out direct interviews and series of workshops with the industry, the need for coordinated and innovative approach to the intermodal issues were identified. Coordination applies to all intermodal processes executed by group of interested, independent companies, organisation of business and public administration. The aim of the paper is to present the concept of the polish intermodal cluster carried out by the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing in Poznan based on the real market expectations.

Clusters are a powerful tool to promote regional economic development and stimulate competitiveness and innovation. This is undoubtedly the area constituting a large reserve for economic growth in Poland. The study focuses on the interaction between clusters and the public administration. It presents the way clusters are being preceived by the regional public administration, particularly in terms of the conditions determining the way clusters operate, as well as their knowledge about initiatives existing in particular regions. Data were obtained based on the nationwide survey, using Computer-Assisted Web Interview and Computer Assisted Telephone Interview. The study sample were all regional government administration offices and regional self-governments in Poland.
