This article deals with current problems in society – the consequences of climate change (drought, floods, migration, etc.) and tries to find solutions in connection with mitigation and adaptation. Spreading ideas about solutions and examples of good practice in society between generations, or within one social group, represents an important process of transfer of experience and information. This article formulates what are the current ideas about climate change solutions and examples of good practice. The information was gathered from discussions with climatologist Milan Lapin and scientist Marcela Morvová. The author also explored the state of the preparation of the climate plan in the urban areas of the capital of the Slovak Republic – Bratislava. In each city district, there are already some examples of good practice suitable for a particular idea of climate change solutions in our society. Ecological holidays in society, such as Earth Day, Water Day, Forest Day, are an opportunity for education and dissemination of information necessary for mitigating the consequences of climate change, including global warming and drought. In the article, the author also discusses the significance of ecological holidays and customs in relation to finding solutions to climate change.
