La conceptualización metafórica del inicio y del final del sentimiento denominado alegría. Un estudio basado en corpus

The aim of the present study is to reconstruct and describe the metaphorical images underlying the expressions which refer to the beginning and the end of the feeling denominated by the word alegría. We assume that the name alegría evokes a concept structured as a scenario composed of various aspects, among which there are temporal aspects, such as the beginning and the end of the feeling. The study shows that the aspects of the beginning and the end of alegría are conceptualized via metaphorical images which belong primarily to the following conceptual metaphors: JOY IS AN OBJECT, JOY IS A LIQUID, JOY IS A LIVING CREATURE, JOY IS LIGHT, JOY IS A PLACE. The analysis allows us to formulate some hypotheses about the properties of the beginning and the end of alegría reflected in the reconstructed metaphorical images, such as: the beginning of alegría is spontaneous; the end of alegría is evaluated as highly negative, etc.
