Author of the article analyzes the critical and “emancipational” role in now days historiography. He took a conceptual history (German: “Begriff sgeschichte”) as a best example. Article starts with deliberations on hermeneutics philosophy.Than author underlines the differences between assumptions of hermeneutics philosophy and modern historiography. The latter needs cognitive categories to conduct researches. But these categories can be something more. Author’s thesis is that in a case of conceptual history these categories are also ontological categories which allows us to speak about “emancipational” role of historical writing. In article this idea is connected with theory of modernization and philosophical theories of “understanding” (“Verstehen”) and explaining.
