In the 18th century Raab-Neustadt belonged to the suburbs of Raab. Protestant residents constituted a half of its population. The article presents an analysis of the names of the residents of Reformed and Evangelic denomination and studies their frequency of appearance and origin. The studies show that the number of Christian names in this century was insignificant because the Protestant Christian names usually had a hereditary character. Only some Christian names were found attractive and consequently they were very popular in that religious community. The genetic classification shows that the most frequently occurring Christian names come from the Bible as well as the Old and New Testament. Thus, this proves the theory that Reformation was the period when the names of saints were in retreat.
