Contemporary cultures undergo the process of deep and diverse hybridization. Among numerous elements and factors of this process, relations between art and science play no- wadays very important role. I analyse this concept in the framework of the theory of the third culture, C.P. Snow put forward in his Rede lecture and publication in 1959. The third culture concept has been subsequently discussed and reinterpreted by John Brockman. In my analyse I return to Snow's idea of dialog as a basic form of the agency of merging arts and sciences. To explain how such processes have developed in the fields of contemporary artistic practices I present two case studies: the analyse of interactive Augmented Reality installations of Monika Fleischmann and Wolfgang Strauss in the context of ICT science; and the analyse of nanoart works of Victoria Vesna.

In the followig article the basis outlines of terms present in the reflection of 'the godfather' of Russian religious philosopy are shown (Nietzsche). A lot of attention was paid to evaluation of contemporary culture and reasons of is't failure, highlighting his admiration of Ancient Greece and resembling of the idea of superman (upperman) and dionisian creativity. Nikolai Berdaev second of the presented philosophers was the representative of the 'Rusian silver age of philosophy'. In his reflection on European culture we can find influence of the German philosopher what is evidenced in their similiar evaluation of culture or in appeals to creativity. These afterthoughts showing similarities and highlighting differences should show the path through Nietzsche's nihilism to Berdaev's spirit aristocracy as still important message for contemporary Christians as the creators of culture.

The article is dealing with the problem of mass media phenomenon in relation with elements of traditional culture. Electronic media are a constitutive feature of the contemporary cultural context, as they strongly influence transformations, which can be observed within folklore. The contemporary 'information community' can be best observed through Internet, where community groups are naturally activated within the virtual reality. The process of searching for folk elements in contemporary culture dignifies the anthropological folklore from using methods, developed within this field to study contemporary mechanisms of understanding the world. It considerably enriches the knowledge about human beings.

The main thesis of this article is the claim that the demise of the 'man of leisure' is taking place before our very eyes - at least in so far as they were defined by Florian Znaniecki and George Herbert Mead, Roger Caillois, Boguslaw Sulkowski and other researchers who emphasised the socialising function of fun and its social character. Because of numerous processes - mainly the dominance of entertainment and the search for pleasure at any cost - fun is undergoing a process of atrophy or at least far reaching change and primarily desocialisation. Increasingly we find ourselves alone with music (because of its reproduction by walkmen and discmen), when dancing, in sport and alone in front of the television or the computer monitor. It would appear that this kind of escape from others, avoiding them and at the same time certain difficulties with complete relationships with other people. The concern arises that it will then never be possible to reach those 'others'. One of the causes of this effect could be the reduction (or change) in the role of games as a form of socialisation and interaction.

Roman Berger is not only a composer but also a philosopher and sociologist. His literary work is not only a marginal or supplementary concern; it is as important as his compositional work and even more, these two fields of his work are narrowly interconnected. In the first place, Berger in his texts expresses his existential needs. However, it is not only a statement of a composer about the starting points of his creation, but it is also a statement of a reformer of society, who is asking where the contemporary culture is facing and where it should be facing. The problems of the influence of the media as an important bearer of cultural information are also closely associated with it. The aim of this study is to name the most essential problems, which Berger deals with and submit their solution to a critical evaluation, particularly by means of confrontation with other contemporary thinkers.
