Project work has wide application in both formal and informal educational contexts. The technique is based on the learning by doing principle and allows to develop independence, originality, ingenuity as well as ability to work in a team. These characteristics allow for a wide application of the technique in popularization of culture. The authoress defines popularization of culture as all institutionalized and non-institutionalized, planned and spontaneous processes whose aim is to inspire and encourage people to become more active in the sphere of culture. According to her, project work in culture popularization is an organized, planned, complex and limited in terms of time undertaking which helps to develop, encourage and support communication and mutual understanding among people, their creativity, involvement and social integration. Project work activities are strictly related to the everyday life of participants and respond to issues which are relevant to them; the participants independently and voluntarily undertake activity in the area of culture, which in turn allows them to regain their feeling subjectivity, independence, control, influence and initiative, show initiative and assume responsibility for themselves as well as others. The authoress presents the structure of a project on culture popularization and the shows how project work can be applied in adult education.
