In the world of work, the political transition created a difficult situation in Hungary which has become even less favourable in the 2010s. Employees are exposed to numerous infringements. The case study presented at previous MEB conferences and continued herein illustrates the vulnerability of employees. The case study provides an excellent opportunity for the presentation of the special Hungarian labour law (the conclusion of an employment relationship, payment of wages, performance of work, trial period, termination, corporate dismissal, etc.) and for summarising the lessons learned. In addition to the court judgement involving heavy expenditure, it can also be concluded that successful corporate work can only be achieved by respected and skilled employees, and the loyalty of employees is the key source of results. This, in turn, can only be achieved if the representatives of the owners and the management of the company pay great attention, as a subsystem, to the lawful employment and motivation of employees.

The article focuses on the case study of the life history of Weronika, a person biographically experiencing the consequences of the transformation process in Poland. On the one hand, the text concentrates on showing the change in the status of the narrator’s family from a privileged position in the socialist period to the experience of unemployment and poverty after 1989. On the other hand, the text analyzes the necessity of the narrator’s mother’s emigration to Italy in the mid-1990s. Thus, the article focuses on the narrator’s experience in the context of being a migrant woman’s child. This experience is related to the time of socialization and education, which was difficult for the narrator, and the consequence of which is shown in the text in connection to the narrator’s persistence in trajectory. The text also presents the perspective of transnational motherhood within the framework of Polish women’s migrations after 1989. Also, an important perspective adapted in the article is the experience of migration by the narrator, who at the time of the interview has also been living in Italy for 10 years. Permanent emigration of the narrator is associated in her life history with high biographical costs. The article is, therefore, an attempt to present migration as a source of suffering in relation to the context of being a migrant’s child and being a migrant oneself. The analysis of Weronika’s case is also an attempt to show the relationship between the individual experience of the narrator and the mechanisms of collective influence. Thus, the text treats the analyzed life history as one of the biographical accounts reflecting the biographical and social processes assigned to a specific time frame. In this perspective, the text aims to reconstruct the complexity of these processes and to interpret the experienced social reality in an individual biography.

The subject of the article concerns the issue of constructing and reconstructing national identity. The object of interest here is a sociological case study of Serbian national identity. It includes reconstruction and interpretation of in-depth interviews conducted in Serbia with the representatives of Serbian symbolic elites. The concept of symbolic elites is approached in the discussed research from Teun van Dijk’s perspective. Thus, they are individuals and groups directly involved in the production of public opinion, who have an impact on the content of publicly available knowledge, and the creation and legitimization of public discourse. The work is embedded in the methodological framework of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and is based on the assumptions of the Discourse‐Historical Approach (DHA). In this optics, the most important thing is the historical and social context of the studied process of the discursive construction of national identity. Therefore, the conclusions also touch upon the historical, political, and social perspective of the formation of Serbian national identity. The reflection also aims at presenting the analysis from the contemporary perspective (mainly in 2008-2020). Thus, paying attention to the political divisions in Serbia and the country’s road to democratization and European integration, the discussed research study shows the comprehensive specifics of the studied national identity.

The main focus of the article lies in describing the class position of an individual from the Polish middle class, his biographical path, and tensions connected with his actual place in social structure. Background of the analysis is rooted in Fritz Schütze’s methodology of autobiographical narrative interview. One of the main goals is to show the advantages of using biographical methodology in analysing class structure.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of this paper is to discuss the efficiency of teaching process with use of the digitalized methods, emphasis laid on the use of video case studies. RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: Since the vast majority of the students are now highly digitalized, their expectations towards the methods applied to teaching changes compared to past practices. Therefore with the use of observation of the in-class interactions and the quiz results of the teaching sessions, we compare the efficiency of using video and traditional case studies. The study is conducted on the sample of 119 undergraduate students of International Business. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The paper starts with a brief summary of the existing research on using video case studies in teaching. Next we describe the reasoning for our own empirical research, followed by the research design and method explanation. We discuss the results in division for qualitative in-class observations and quantitative accuracy of the in-class quiz. The paper ends with conclusions including study limitations and future recommendations.  RESEARCH RESULTS: The study shows that application of up-to-date technological tools brings better efficiency to the teaching-learning process. The students perception of the subject is higher if the knowledge is passed with use – in our case – of the video. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The study confirms that diversifying the teaching methods and bringing technology into class allows more efficient learning process. Therefore, it is recommended that – if possible – educators incorporate more interactive, virtual tools into their teaching programs.
