Japanese food, such as sushi, tempura, sukiyaki, and so forth is considered a vegetarian cuisine. Since the Meiji era, Japanese food culture has absorbed influences from the food culture of other countries, for example European countries, China, Korea, India, etc. Japanese people eat other countries’ foods quite often – not only in food served at restaurants but also in the daily food created in each family. The media has introduced many new foods into the lives of Japanese people for 200 years; and nowadays, the internet has drastically changed the role of the media.

Food, as one of the most important components of human existence, in addition to its primary function associated with satisfying hunger, is also essential element of culture and language – as evidenced by the numerous linguistic studies of that segment of the Polish vocabulary. The aim of this paper is to present and discuss selected Silesian collocations where the main component belongs to the wide category of cooking, understood as ready meals, the products of cookery or the entire process of preparing the food. Discussed idioms may include a component, which is the name of a specific dish, its ingredients, beverages, cookware or activities related to the preparation of dishes. The main purpose of this article is to show some segment of reality settled in dialectal phraseology and to identify functions performed by the expressive compounds containing in its composition the culinary names.

Pożywienie jako jeden z najważniejszych składników egzystencji człowieka, oprócz swej podstawowej funkcji zaspokajania głodu, jest również istotnym elementem kultury oraz struktury semantycznej języka – o czym świadczą liczne językoznawcze opracowania tego wycinka polskiej leksyki. Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie i omówienie wybranych śląskich związków frazeologicznych, w których komponentem jest wyraz należący do kategorii kulinariów, rozumianych jako gotowe potrawy, będące wytworem sztuki kulinarnej lub jako wszystko to, co związane jest z przyrządzaniem i gotowaniem potraw. Omawiane frazeologizmy mogą zatem zawierać komponent będący nazwą konkretnej potrawy, jej składników, napojów czy naczyń kuchennych lub czynności związanych z przygotowywaniem potraw. Artykuł ma na celu pokazanie obrazu pewnego wycinka rzeczywistości utrwalonego we frazeologii gwarowej oraz wskazanie funkcji jakie pełnią związki wyrazowe zawierające w swym składzie nazwy kulinariów.
