EN
The article reflects the current working of the phrase grey eminence in the common Slovak language. The author compares the traditional interpretation of this phraseme in dictionaries with the actualization of the phraseme grey eminence in current linguistic praxis, in particular on the web using. A traditional interpretation of the phraseme applies to a person who influences the course of events from the sidelines in a particular area. Examples of the type of: „štítna žľaza – šedá eminencia nášho zdravia”(thyroid gland – grey eminence of our health) or „pórobetónová tvárnica – šedá eminencia stavebníctva“ (aerated brick – grey eminence of the civil engineering) show a new trend and change in the denotation of this phrase. A change in the denotation is presented by its using in relation with non-living objects and it means also a change in the depersonification of the phrase grey eminence. The author explains this kind of semiotic update through the categories of objects „de dicto“ and „der re“ from the concept of intensional logic by Pavel Tichý.
