This paper presents a novel Die Dunklen (2007) by Ralf Isau. I analyse the presence of Franz Liszt’s music in this work. Isau uses Liszt’s music to explain history and the aesthetics of music, and also the influence of music on human being (e.g. Plato, music rhetoric, programme music, and audio marketing). The most important part of this paper is the analysis of structure and narration in this novel in relationship with musical techniques and forms.

Artykuł stanowi studium powieści Ralfa Isaua Die Dunklen (2007; wyd. pol. Szkarłatna partytura, 2011). Analizie poddane zostało znaczenie obecności twórczości i postaci muzyka Franza Liszta w powieści. Isau zawarł w niej wykład z historii muzyki i estetyki muzycznej, a także biografię Franza Liszta oraz rozważania dotyczące wpływu muzyki na zachowanie człowieka (Platon, barokowa teoria afektów, retoryka muzyczna, muzyka programowa, audiomarketing). Zasadniczą część pracy stanowią rozważania dotyczące powiązań między powieściową narracją i kształtowaniem struktury powieści a elementami i technikami muzycznymi.
