The diary of the seminary, which we have tried to present, is a unique source bringing valuable data to the knowledge of the history of the seminary in Nitra, the city of Nitra and the entire Nitra diocese. It also describes the liturgical life in the churches of Nitra, important events in the region as well as a considerable amount of meteorological data. This article is a small contribution to the yet little processed history of the seminary. Since the history of individual seminaries belongs to the prehistory of the modern Roman Catholic Faculty of Theology of Cyril and Methodius, it will also serve to a deeper knowledge of the history of this educational institution.

Príspevok sa snaží predstaviť denník, ktorý v rokoch 1775 – 1784 písali chovanci Kňazského seminára sv. Ladislava v Nitre. Ide o unikátny historický prameň, ktorý osvetľuje nielen dianie v tomto seminári, ale aj v miestnej katedrále a v iných kostoloch mesta, ako aj v celej Nitrianskej diecéze. Príspevok ponajprv ponúka všeobecný popis denníka, následne prináša všeobecné informácie o inštitúcii, na pôde ktorej vznikol, aby sa mohol vzápätí zaoberať jeho obsahom. Ten rozdeľuje do niekoľkých tém, podľa skutočností, ktoré sa v ňom najčastejšie spomínajú. Predstavenie tohto archívneho prameňa má svoj význam i pre hlbšie pochopenie dejín Rímskokatolíckej cyrilometodskej bohosloveckej fakulty, nakoľko dejiny jednotlivých kňazských seminárov tvoria súčasť jej prehistórie.
